Someone gave me a tip for house plants the other day. For those who don't need watered a lot, place an icecube (or more) on the soil to melt throughout the next hour or two. It gives it time for the plant / soil to soak up the water.

I always put my house plants outside if it's raining for as long as it takes for them to be watered, I feel like this helps in that it's the natural way of watering and they get some time outside.

I'm always terrified to put them outside when its raining, I don't want them to drown. Emille Lavender

yeah I can understand that, and I don't do it with my more finicky plants like my succulents but I'm of the mind that if outdoor plants can survive a good soak every now and then, then so too can my herbs lol

Yeah, Emille Lavender, I usually just do the icecube trick with my succulent.

If you're afraid of them drowning, get pots with holes in the bottom and mix the dirt with medium sized gravel.
